Sen. Steven J. Santarsiero honored at the Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center (PABC)

The Bucks County legislator was presented with the first annual Timothy M. Block, PhD, Biotech Impact Award

 Doylestown, Nov. 17, 2023 – The Hepatitis B Foundation, Baruch S. Blumberg Institute and Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center (PABC) yesterday presented Sen. Steven J. Santarsiero, who represents residents of Bucks County, with the organizations’ first annual Timothy M. Block, PhD, Biotech Impact Award.

The Senator was honored at the 23rd Annual Regional Biotechnology Conference at the PABC, which was attended by about 100 professionals in the life sciences, finance and related sectors. Along with the award, Sen. Santarsiero was presented with a personalized lab coat from the Blumberg Institute.

Timothy M. Block, PhD, co-founder, former president and board chair of the Hepatitis B Foundation, Blumberg Institute and PABC thanked Sen. Santarsiero for being a strong supporter for many years.

“In Harrisburg, here in Bucks County and beyond, Sen Santarsiero been a hero for our cause and for technology development, and he has done it with such eloquence that he has now become one of the Commonwealth’s most effective advocates for how technology, job creation and science can be combined for the public good,” Dr. Block said. “Not only through legislation and public support for innovative programs, which amounts to millions of dollars, but through his intelligence, new ideas, compassion and personal drive. There is a real humanism in what he does and how he does it.”

Proceeds from the event will support research at the Hepatitis B Foundation and Blumberg Institute.
