March 8, 2013 - The PA Biotechnology Center received results from a 2013 Economic Impact Study by Byler Associates showing that the Center–s current total economic impact, including its affiliated organizations, amounts to $579 million for the region and state, and 573 jobs over the past 4 years. Synergy Announces Positive Results From Plecanatide Phase IIb/III Trial in Patients With Chronic Idiopathic Constipation
Synergy Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq:SGYP) today announced that plecanatide, its investigational oral drug for the treatment of chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC), was well tolerated and met the primary and key secondary endpoints of a Phase IIb/III clinical study. Full study results will be presented at a major scientific meeting this year.

The gala is HBF’s signature fundraising event attended by leaders from academia, industry, government, and the community for an elegant evening of fine dining, dancing, and an awards ceremony honoring Dr. Robert Purcell, retired Chief of the Hepatitis Viruses Section of the NIAID/NIH with the Baruch S. Blumberg Prize for advancing the science and medicine of hepatitis B through his pioneering research in viral hepatitis discovery and vaccine development.
